Q&A Part 2

It's been a while since I've done a proper Q&A and since I keep getting PMs asking me some recurring questions, I figured now was the time to do another post! You can find the original here on the blog--although technically that's the second one since this wasn't my original website/blog, so it's partially incomplete.

If you have any questions you'd like answered, feel free to drop them on this post, or continue reaching out to me through email or on Instagram.

So, here are the answers to some of the most popular questions I've been getting as of late:

Are you still writing MF?

Yes and no. My YA series that are still in the works are MF, and I have a future Sci-Fi planned that's MFM/MMF, however, I don't have any MF Adult planned at this point in time. To be honest, my MF stuff just doesn't sell. Not enough people care to read them and considering how much work and care goes into writing and publishing a single book...it's currently just not worth it for me. So, as of this moment, most if not all of my future projects are planned MM. I'm sorry if this disappoints a few of you, and totally understand if you want to unsubscribe/unfollow. Again, my YA works that are out (When Lightning Strikes and Across From You) are MF and I'll be completing those stories within 2023-2024.

Between the Devil and the Sea is darker than any of your other works. Are you planning to write more like it?

Yes! Devil happened because I was talking with a friend who told me it was ridiculous I held back with the Whisper trilogy. I cared too much about what people would think of me, apparently. So I decided to throw caution to the wind and just let Apollo and Shade do whatever they wanted and...well. If you've read it you know. The thing is, I also enjoyed writing this book more than many others because I let the characters take control, whereas I felt like I was constantly trying to hold them back in the Whisper books. So, most of you will (hopefully) be happy to know that my next four projects are planned DARK MM written in a similar style to Devil. I'm incredibly excited about these books and sincerely hope that you'll enjoy them as much as you did Apollo and Shade's story.

Will you ever write anything in the Academy setting?

Another yes! Ironically, after the final Whisper book, my next three will be taking place on the same planet, with one of them happening at the Academy. After all of the responses I received, I realized I definitely had to write a book set there, since every single one of my Detectives/Inspectors started at one of those schools. I'll give you guys a "spoiler", the next three will be considered college romances. Dark MM Sci-Fi College Romance. The first will take place at a university on the same planet as the Academy (the same one Shade attended), and will feature another Brumal prince! The second will take place at the actual Academy, and then we'll return to the university for the third. These books will all be stand-alone, but they'll contain some of the same characters. This leads me to...

Will you ever write books that connect?

I'll be giving it a try. The issue I had with this is, experience in the past has taught me people don't tend to stick around for series, and I wanted these books to be read and enjoyed by as many people as possible. Making sure they were all stand-alone with no connectors was the way to do that. However, after how many people have asked about Gael, I figured I'll try it out, and I happened to have the perfect ideas to do so. So to reiterate, my next three books (after the Whisper trilogy concludes) will take place on the same planet for once. They'll have some recurring characters, but will not have a specific reading order. Everyone will still be able to pick them up in any order and enjoy them without having to worry about major spoilers or anything like that. I'll also be revisiting some old details, such as the Brumal and characters who originate from the same planet as Pryor Oro from A Bright Celestial Sea!

Will you be writing a book for Gael?

At the moment, no. But that may change in the future. It all depends. For now, I don't have any set ideas for him and with Devil having just released, and that story having ended well, I don't plan on revisiting for the time being.

Will you be writing a book for Wren?

Yes! Originally, I was going to release a short story for him at the ends of Don't Breathe a Word and Don't Let Me Go, however, it's since ballooned and there's no way I could properly tie up all of his loose ends in a short. Wren will now be getting his own full-length book...but I don't know when. I don't want to make any promises, but if it isn't this year it should be next at the latest! My writing schedule is already pretty tight at the moment, and I don't think I'll be able to squeeze another project in, but we'll have to see.

Are you moving away from YA?

My street team already know the answer to this, but yes. Unfortunately, YA doesn't garner as much attention as my adult stuff does and is no longer as enjoyable to write. I will be finishing the two major series I have out currently though, so don't worry about that! I love the Two Worlds characters and the Lightning Strikes characters and have no intention of abandoning them. After those are completed though, I will most likely be focusing my efforts on adult works for the foreseen future.

What is your favorite book you've written?

I don't think I have one anymore, but a couple favs would probably be Between the Devil and the Sea, A Bright Celestial Sea, and When Lightning Strikes. Though I'm also really fond of A Sea of Endless Light, which I personally think is one of my best lol.

Who is your favorite character you've ever written?

Fox Axford. I love Fox. It's crazy how much I love Fox.

Will you read my book?

Unfortunately, I don't have the time for that. I will, however, be happy to answer any questions you may have about self-publishing. Please keep in mind I can only answer based on my own personal experiences though.

Will you ever write contemporary?

I have! I've written a couple MM contemporary books under the pen name Avery Tu! You can find them on Amazon. I do have an Instagram for that penname, but I hardly ever use it.

*There we go! If I keep getting more repeated questions I may come back here and add them. If you have anything you want to ask that wasn't answered already, please feel free to drop me a line!

And just as a bonus, I'll answer this last question:

What's the title of your next Dark release?

Echo. The cover is designed by the same artist who did the Devil one, so get excited because it is gorgeous!
